We are interested in recordings of the first TV Singapura broadcast in 1963, pre-1980s family films/home movies of Singapore, pre-1990s television commercials, as well as videos featuring leisure activities of yesteryear and/or disappearing local landmarks and landscapes. Your contributions will go a long way to fill the gaps in our national collections, and ensure that these precious recordings are preserved and accessible for future generations.
In land-scarce Singapore, urban redevelopment is necessary to meet the changing needs of the country and its people. We are interested to collect videos that capture the sights and sounds of “disappearing” landmarks and landscapes before they were gone for good. These could include videos of the final days of operation at a landmark (such as a school before it moves to a new location), and landscapes that have been earmarked for future redevelopment.
