Guidelines for Describing Film and Videos
Describe what you see in the film or video.
For home movies featuring scenes of old Singapore, you can provide an itemised list of the locations/activities featured. For example:
- [00:01] Singapore River
- [00:25] Coolies/labourers carrying goods off a boat
- [01:30] Tourists visiting Tiger Balm Gardens
Try and include keywords which users are likely to search for, such as names of people (e.g. Sir Stamford Raffles), places (e.g. Fort Canning; a soap factory) and things/activities (e.g. bicycles; fishing).
If you are unsure of certain words, put them in square brackets [like this].
Don’t worry if there are words you are unsure of, someone else can work on it! This is the beauty of crowdsourcing - every contribution helps!
